I'm interested in learning the reasons Palestinians seem divided on the UN vote today. I've read numerous Twitter comments expressing disdain, and seen videos of celebrations in Gaza. I have also read that the resolution is largely symbolic. I would love to learn more about this seeming dichotomy. Your help would be wonderful.

I will not speak on behalf of the Palestinian people, I will give you my thoughts on this topic. I'm happy about the UN vote, ONLY because I saw a sign that the world, well most of it is on our side. As for the meaning behind the vote? It really means NOTHING (to me at least). What is Observer Status? What does it allow us to do as a "State"? Will anything change in Palestine because of this new status?
I think only the people can change Palestine. This UN status is simply a motivational tool.
That is all.
