Earlier this month, the world's most expensive spray tan - a limited edition St Tropez experience containing diamonds and clocking in at $320 - was launched in London to crowds of tangerine-toned ladies. In honour of this special moment, we've compiled the most ludicrously luxurious cosmetics to put St Tropez in the shade.
Mascara / Lipstick Combo
Price: $14,000,000 (€10,788,000)
H.Couture Beauty
When asked whether you'd like several extravagantly decorated mansions or some new lipstick, I'm pretty sure I know what a woman would say. Exactly - lipstick please. And if you like your makeup with large helpings of diamond, you would too. This custom-made mascara and lipstick set tastefully boasts 1,200 pink diamonds on the lipstick case alone, while the mascara sports 2,500 blue diamonds set on an 18 karat gold base. To get your money's worth, you receive free refills for life (thanks guys!), as well as 24/7 customer service, should you get confused about which bit goes where.
Nail polish
Price: $250,000 (€192,505)
Azature Black Diamond
Known for frosting both Beyoncé and Rihanna with elaborate jewelry, LA-based designer Azature has extended his reach to nails. Yes, despite looking not dissimilar to the midnight stars polish you find for free on the cover of teen magazines, this uber-luxe bottle contains 267 black diamonds. Kelly Osborne wore it to the Emmys this year and announced on Twitter beforehand that 'I'm s****ing myself' which seemed an appropriate comment for someone wearing $250,000 on their fingers.
Nail polish (runner up)
Price: $130,740 (€100,678)
Model's Own Gold Rush
One can only imagine the bitterness in the Model's Own boardroom when they heard of Azature's diamond nail venture. While their manicure may not be as expensive - just a pinch by comparison - they're worth a mention for coming up with a gold polish actually made of gold. Touted as the perfect shade for the festive season, the precious metal gives the polish added flexibility which leads to less chipping and heightened wearability. Also, did we mention it's made from actual gold? Oh, we did. Well, did we mention the lid is encrusted with 1,118 diamonds? No? Well it is.
Perfume
Price: $216,000 (€166,310)
Clive Christian, Imperial Majesty No. 1
There are only around ten people in the world who have a bottle of Imperial Majesty, so limited is its production. Upon purchase, it is delivered to your home in a Bentley. One would assume that considering each spray costs approximately $30, they would throw the car in as a freebie, but no. The complex and well guarded formula has several celebrity fans including Katie Holmes, who reportedly wore it on her wedding day. So perhaps it's a good luck charm too.
Cosmetic set
Price: $17,000 (€13,090)
Ted Norton Cosmetic Firearm
Dutch jewelry designer Ted Norton's bizarrely gun-shaped cosmetic creation contains Dior lip gloss, an antique hairpin, an 18 karat gold toothpick (of course), a vial of perfume, a 50g 24 karat gold bar (presumably to use as a paper weight), a USB stick and a Viagra pill. Available in black and white, it's hand crafted with 18 karat gold components.
Moisturizer
Price: $15,000 (€11,550)
Clé de Peau Beauté, La Crème
While La Crème is known as one of the most luxurious face cream companies in the world, with a dedicated following of celebrities, a special edition pot of it was released in September to mark the brand's 30th anniversary. The jar - which is encased in 30 layers of crystal and topped with three platinum rings - contains 50 grams of moisturizer, making it five times more expensive per gram than gold. So slather away ladies!
Contact lenses
Price: $15,000 (€11,550)
Shekhar Eye Research, Gold and Diamond contacts
If you love to appear simultaneously wealthy and deranged, these diamond and gold contacts may well be for you. Be quick though, they've only released 3996 pairs. Their one saving grace however is that all proceeds of their sale go - somewhat bizarrely - to sufferers of Stevens Johnson Syndrome, a skin disease.
Facial
Price: $1,000 (€770)
White Caviar Illuminating Facial, La Prairie at The Beverly Hills Hotel
This 90 minute facial promises glowing, youthful results by - to put it bluntly - covering your face with dead fish eggs. Lovely health-giving, complexion-fixing dead fish eggs. After your treatment La Prairie also lets you take home the other products from the White Caviar Illuminating System (valued at around $1,500), enabling you to continue your fishface program if you're just passing through.
Hairbrush
Price: $499.99
The Viatek HairPro Luxor Laser Hair Brush
Despite having some pretty spurious sounding guaranteed results this is one of the most technologically advanced brushes in the world. Using nine lasers and six LEDs, it supposedly stimulates hair growth by stimulating red blood cell production, causing resting hair follicles to become active. Unfortunately - though perhaps not surprisingly - finding reviews for the mightily expensive brush proves difficult.
Shampoo and Conditioner
Price: $60 for an 8.5oz bottle
Alterna Ten shampoo and conditioner
This luxurious food for your follicles contains exotic ingredients including African cacao extract, caviar age-control complex (whatever that is), photozyme complex with 'colour hold', white truffle oil, Champagne grape seed oil, Bulgarian Evening Primrose and Arabian Frankincense. Well this all sounds great, at first glance maybe $60 isn't so much after all. Until you see the bottle. Which contains approximately one cup of the stuff.
So ladies, which of these will you be requesting as a stocking-stuffer this year?
